Charlottesville Balloon rides

November 25, 2008
One of the grand things around Charlottesville is seeing the Hot Air Balloons (almost anytime of the year).

Recently I stopped and got some photos of the Boar’s Head Balloon just over my head:

Touring Charlottesville by Hot Air Balloon is an excellent way to see the area. If you want to see Charlottesville Real Estate with a Top Buyers Agent, Contact me and either myself or one of my exceptional associates will be able meet with you!

First Floor Master – Charlottesville Real Estate

November 25, 2008

I want to go on record as saying to builders:

“stop building homes that do not have a First Floor Master!”

The baby boomers are at an average age of around 60 years old. I can tell you from experience that they do not even want to consider homes without a first floor master.

I am talking specifically about our Real Estate market, butI believe this is true in a lot of areas! There are some local builder’s putting in 3 story (yes 3 story) homes in town and they are killing themselves by not having a First Floor Master option…

My next home purchase will have a First Floor Master and that is the Trend!!!

This is my opinion and I am stinking to it!!!

When Looking for the perfect home in Charlottesville with a First Floor Master, give me a call, I will be sure you see them all!!!

Walk near Monticello

November 21, 2008

There are several ways to get to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and one of my favorite ways is by foot… Please preview the video above for a sample of the trail. I hope that you enjoy it half as much as we did taking the hike! Our family is seeing more and more places of interest around Charlottesville.

Sometimes it is good to explore your own backyard!

Flight of Dupont – 1933

November 18, 2008

It is hard to imagine the courage it took to get into a sailplane in 1933 and take off from this mountain.
After 4 hours and 50 minutes landing in Frederick Maryland, 121.6 miles away…
When you stop on Afton Mountain and look at the view you will be in awe. But to launch from here, even with today’s technology takes real guts!!! (just my opinion)

There is so much to see when looking at Charlottesville Real Estate, just do not forget the sites and landmarks!!!

Greene County Virginia Home Information – (YTD Nov 7,2008)

November 16, 2008

Greene County is just North of Charlottesville and offers beautiful properties at great prices.

Greene County is an excellent choice for clients moving to NGIC. See NGIC Real Estate

I recently compared the cost of new construction from Greene to Albemarle and was shocked at the difference (my clients are made aware of these comparisons). When you are looking for Charlottesville Real Estate remember Greene County as it is not far from Charlottesville and has some great vistas!!!

Eating in Charlottesville (ca. 1784)

November 16, 2008

When you visit Charlottesville you will want to get a feel for the history and feel of Jefferson’s Virginia.

What better way that to visit and eat at Michie Tavern (A Virginia Historic Landmark)

Orginally built in Western Albemarle, this 1784 home was moved wilth-in minutes of Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.

You can enjoy a delicious southern meal meal, tour the original Tavern and on a cold day warm by the fire!

There is a lot to see and you can even learn 18th-century dances on your tour. There is a General Store and everyone wears traditional clothing.

The Meadow Run Grist Mill (ca. 1797) is a site to see. This is where the general store is offering an old mercantile atmosphere.

The Tavern Gift Shop offers a wide selection of historic reproductions and is fun for kids and adults too!

Stop by and have lunch while visiting Ash Lawn-Highland or Monticello it is a fine way to spend the day!

Albemarle County – Host to Charlottesville

November 14, 2008

I can still remember the first time I heard the name Albemarle. Not only did I mis-pronounce it, I could not spell it either.

Well the main thing to know is that Albemarle is in central Virginia and that Charlottesville is located almost exactly in the middle of Albemarle.
Home of Thomas Jefferson (his home was Monticello) and of course the University of Virginia, I beleive it is a true gem of this great country.
The city of Charlottesville has a population of approximately 40 thousand which is why we have the feel of a small town. However, we also have the amenities of a big city. We have theaters, art museums and even big name shows that come to Charlottesville.
Our downtown mall is a walking brick lined mall with shops, ice skating and an outdoor theater for weekly events!
Many visitors enjoy the wineries and top off their visit with a breath-taking hot air balloon ride!
If you ever want a treat, plan a trip to visit my town, you will be glad you did!
